A great way to promote your online business is with article marketing. It is free, it is easy to upload articles and it allows you to bring targeted traffic to your website while you build an authority status in your niche. Below are seven tips that have helped me to get the more out of my article marketing campaigns.
People searching online want problems solved. With the use of your articles, show them that you are an expert and you can help in solving their issues.
Guide them through the solution line-by-line in your article. This way, they are more likely to click on the link in your resource box to see what else you have to help them.
Your articles must be timely. They are often more popular that way. Don’t waste your time writing about old out of date methods. We use the PC and ipad these days, don’t ever think cassettes.
Many people fail at article marketing. They write an article, sit back and wait for it to bring in an avalanche of traffic. If you want to succeed, write regularly; more articles mean more credibility and more credibility means more traffic to your links.
Top article directories don’t allow the articles to be read alone, they also encourage that they be published on the reader’s websites. The only condition is that the publisher has to keep the article and the resource box intact – an added bonus for you since your article has the potential to be published multiple times across the internet, thus placing your content and link before more readers.
Writing regularly and ensuring you have good quality content improves the chances of your articles being republished.
Keep it short and simple. People don’t like to read Jane Eyre when they’re online. They want answers to their questions, and they want it quickly. Stop beating around the bush and only tell your readers what they want to know.
Readers see your title first. Be sure it is an ambassador for your content. It has to be engaging and captivating. Think of it has your hook, the reader must want to know more and click on the link to find out.
Never sell anything in your article body, it is for the reader’s use, not a sales letter. However, have a compelling call to action in your resource box. Forget about your ego and what’s so good about you; inform them they need to visit your website and what they benefit if they click through.

I have never had any luck with article marketing. Then again, I do write 4 or 5 posts and get sick of it because I get like 4 visits from it.
I think I will try it out again. I’ll force myself to get up to say 20 articles. If Nothing is going on, then I know it is not for me, but if I am getting any good traffic, I will continue going with it.
Thanks for the great post Keith.

Well, while article marketing is free, the price you pay for it is persistence.
You can hire freelancers to write them for you.
I can be of service to you too if you like.

Clear and concise tips Olusegun. Articles are a traffic driver for me. I would add one thing to your insight: fashion your articles around a keyword.
I wrote scores of articles but none placed high on google. When I began to pay attention to keyword placement and density I was (and still am) at the top of google for a few keywords in my niche.
Using the proper keywords ensures that you reach a targeted crowd.

I’m confused. It’s always been my understanding that directories, especially the top ones, want original/never been published articles…now you’re saying the opposite?

No Dennis, I’m not.
It is just the way things are. A lot of sites use other people’s content. I choose to be the one whose content the use instead of risking Google’s penalty if there is anything like that.

Fantastic checklist. I love the simplicity of it, something we can all implement straight away. One more thing I would add is to try and use lists and subheadings as much as possible, but considering the title of this post, I will let it slide on this occasion LOL
Thanks, I have subscribed and will be back
