Five Reasons To Run A Personal Blog

Blogging is fun and popular and more people are creating their own blogs just for fun. Normally we discuss blogs for making money but not everyone wants to blog for money. Many bloggers are blogging for stress relief, personal satisfaction, to help organize their own thoughts or just to share their opinions and expertise. Many personal blogs start out personal and grow into a source of income anyway. Lately, many personal bloggers are asked for advice or requested for interviews by the media. Both business and personal blogging are gaining more and more respect each day. Many organizations will consider a blogger an expert in their field just from blogging about it once they have established credibility.

  1. Personal blogs also give you the opportunity to share a little about yourself and your outside life to your business blog and site visitors. Sharing too much personal information on a business blog can sometimes seem unprofessional, depending on the blog environment you have created. Linking to a personal blog can be the perfect fit.
  2. Another benefit that personal blogs offer is an alternative outlet when you need to vent. Many of my personal blog posts are from things that get me steamed and I can’t seem to do anything about it. Posting about it can be a huge stress reliever, especially when a few others jump in with comments and understanding.
  3. Let blogging become your problem solver. Have an issue or situation where you simply can’t find a solution. Someone else has certainly gone through the same thing and can very often offer valuable advice saving both time and frustration.
  4. Expand your influence beyond your niche with a personal blog. If your business blog is about building windmills you will gain respect and influence in that field as you prove yourself to the industry. A personal blog allows you to blog about other areas of interest and expand your spear of influence.
  5. New friends are in the wait hiding in the background ready for your personal views and opinions. Many friends will have common interests while others will stimulate you with opposing point of views. The next thing you know you are all subscribing to each other’s feeds waiting for that next post so you can jump in and socialize a bit. Not everything has to be about business and we can have friends all over the world if we allow it.

Personal Blogs are fun and very rewarding. If you decide to explore your personal blogging side be careful not to take up business time. Another point I should bring up is if your personal views are extreme or offensive you might want to keep it completely separate from your business blogs. That’s a personal call that should be pretty simple to make.

  2. Brian, I totally agree that many people would enjoy a blog about things other than their business.

Heck, I enjoy your personal blog so, I have someone to ‘debate’ with. You know the Sarah Palin thing or TV Box Coupon System… Oh yea, I may disagree with you on everything. That is fine because I know I am right, I just have to convince you. LOL!

I do think that we can disagree and still not be nasty.

I will also add that even on your Business blog you should have some personality. If you just write like a robot then you will come off as a bore! You do not have to get into the nitty gritty of yourself and still have somewhat of a personal side in your business post.

Remember that not everyone will like you no matter what you do or say.

I myself like people (respect) if they do take a stand as long as they are willing to stay somewhat open to the fact that a person who disagrees is not an evil entity that must be destroyed.

Well what I really love about personal blogs is that its easier for the eye of readers since the posts are mostly written in a spontaneous and unique tone. Something that most niche bloggers don’t do..

I agree Melvin, there’s no concerns of key words and other SEO issues, ad placement and promotion. That is until it grows big, and then it seems to become a business blog for most.

  6. Yeah I think blogging can help your business a lot as well, you may not necessarily want to promote it but while gaining readership and all, you would share about your business so people may ask you to buy your services because they’ve sort of started to trust you and they want to try out your product as well. And if you do it intentionally, it has a lot of benefits and be you blog for personal satisfaction or relieving stress, if you think you can earn some extra cash from blogs, it’s worth a try.

  7. I think blogging started by the way of personal blogging itself which later developed into a source of income.Having a personal blog is a great thing and i totally agree with your points it is a stress reliever for so many people and yes it also helps you find anser to your queries as well.

I’m sure you are right Georgiy, although I’m sure business blogs were right on the heels of the personal ones. I like and run both.

  9. My blog is run by blogger, and I know how to get meta tag code, and out it in, but for some reason my blog HTML doesn’t have the right place to put it.(where it’s supposed to say ($metaTagcode$) or some thing like that) Can somebody either post the code from their own blog, or explain it to me?

    • I’m having a hard time understanding the question. Your META tags seem in order:

meta name=”keywords” content=”handcrafted jewelry, sterling silver, necklace, bracelet, earrings, turquoise, onyx, garnet, amethyst, quartz”

meta name=”description” content=”Handcrafted jewelry of Bali sterling silver semiprecious gems beads Handmade jewelry beaded accessories vintage buttons floorcloths”

As far as placement a theme might take care of that. In fact, if you don’t mind me saying so, a decent theme could really improve your site a lot. I hope that is helpful, I don’t want to be insulting.
