How To Leverage Video Marketing – Become a YouTube Partner

Previously we discussed the challenges and pitfalls associated with video marketing that none of the gurus want to tell you about. It’s a sad truth that if you’re not prepared for can suck hours of your life away. Take a look at Why You Are Wasting Your Time With Video Marketing (part one of this series)  to get up to speed.
It’s not all bad news because there is a way to really leverage video marketing. The best part is that even the people who are already doing this, aren’t even using this powerful medium properly. That means more opportunity for the smart people who do take action.

YouTube Partners Have Greater Control

YouTube partnership is not new. But who really understand its potential? Just a small handful of corporations, and a few other clever people. Because it’s not just about the extra revenue you can earn.
That’s great and I’ll talk about revenue share in a minute, but who really cares about an extra few hundred dollars in your Adsense account when there is thousands on the table waiting for you in click through traffic.

A YouTube Partner Can Brand

No, it’s about branding. This is where the real leverage of being a YouTube partner really is. As a YouTube partner you have the ability to really go to town on your channel page. After all this is where your subscriber will spend most of their time.

Imagine having a channel page on YouTube that looked almost identical to your blog layout. Your header, maybe a Twitter or Facebook link in there too. Of course you’d have your logo and maybe even a call to action with a link that goes right back to your website where your offer is.

Improved SEO as a YouTube Partner

Now if you’re taking notice I said links. That’s right; you get links from your YouTube channel right back to your page. And I’m not just talking about the standard stuff you can do in any old YouTube account. I am talking prime real estate baby. Right up there in your header – that custom header with your branded imprint on it!

Yeah, I think you’re starting to get the picture now. Video alone is useless. You can’t put links in it, it’s not dynamic except by nature and without an army of people promoting you, it’s almost impossible to get anywhere unless you can control what you’re visitor sees.

How YouTube Partners Get Paid to Upload

Now, I mentioned that you can also get paid. YouTube has a revenue sharing program that pretty much anyone can get invited to. This isn’t the same as the YouTube Partnership program. It’s important to understand the difference if you intend on trying to monetize clicks and revenue sharing in either system. But in either circumstance you get paid right into your Adsense account.

Revenue sharing is something that you get invited into. There are different requirements, but it’s enough to say that you only get paid for revenue earned on the video that was chosen for the program and not for all the videos in your channel.

In the YouTube partner program you get paid on all legitimate clicks on all videos that you’ve uploaded, plus any ad placements on your channel page. You get more revenue from better placement. So from a direct monetization perspective the YouTube partnership is the way to go.

And that’s the exact reason that it’s actually a little difficult to get into the program. Unless of course you know how.

How To Be a YouTube Partner

It’s always easier to travel a road that someone else already paved. For that reason, Rob Rammuny of Rob’s Web Tips founded the community membership site How2BeaYouTubePartner.com. The purpose of the site is to teach folks like you and me how to become partners with YouTube.
And right now you’re probably thinking oh no here comes the pitch. Guess what! You’re not getting and here’s why.

Firstly I am one of the few online marketers who will only promote products that I have genuinely purchased, used, and either been very impressed with or got great results with. Well here’s what I think of How2BeaYouTubePartner.com.

I Liked It So Much – I Bought The Site!

It’s true. The site already offers so much value for money that I just had to have the whole thing. We have some big things planned for the future with new content already in development and a bunch of new surprises.

I love it that much and know you will too. If you’re ready to learn more about how to be a YouTube partner and drive traffic to your website instead of losing them at YouTube, head on over to the home page and check us out. Right now membership is a measly $1.95 a month.

And if that isn’t the softest call to action in the world then I don’t know what to do.

It sounds good Andrew, but do you have some successful case studies for the site
    you recommend?

    • Andrew says:

@proson, great question and I can happily tell you Yes. Since taking over the site I was really stunned to see just how many people have gone on to become partners.

Now I’ve had no time to collect release forms to be able to (legally) disclose many of these people, since I only took over the site a few weeks ago. Though I am able and proud to show what one 15 year old was able to accomplish. http://www.youtube.com/user/yutubemedia

  6. You really got a deal on that one.

I like you video marketing series so far. You really know your stuff about it. People think that they can just kick back and upload any old video onto YouTube or some similar site and they think that they are going to get rich off of it.

There is money to be made with video marketing, but you have to know the right methods, you have the first one down pat, becoming a partner. There are a few more things, I’ll be keeping an eye on your series to see if you mention them.

  7. I’m sure I’ll be joining, but I’d like to know ahead of time…is this partnership thing invite also, do you have to be some video guru – can a person having never made a video, never uploaded even one yet, still join?

    • Andrew says:

@Dennis Edell, partnership is by application and anyone can apply at any time. There are time when YouTube will approach a user directly to invite them to become partners though its more common that an invitation will be for revenue sharing only on a single video. This is not partnership.

What commonly happens is that too often people apply to become partners well before their channel is ready. When they do the application is rejected. Our site has all of the content required to explain each part of the requirements and shows you how to achieve each of them.

Obviously making quality videos is always the most important thing so start thinking about what types of videos you could produce for your channel. Don’t limit yourself, today could be marketing and tomorrow could be your trip to the duck pond.

  9. Keith,

Are you are a YouTube partner already? I’m wondering what is the minimum number of videos you need in order to increase your chances of being approved.

    Good luck with the site!

Secondly, I’m already making a few dollars on YouTube myself. For some strange reason, I got an e-mail from YouTube telling me that I was eligible to become one of those partner. I became one, and I’m making nearly $90 each month now. I love YouTube!
