Your inner genie is readily available to those who are willing to tap into it. We see people who are always at the right place and right time and we call them lucky, we champion those exude that power of positive thinking and seem to achieve what almost seems unachievable. Is this really just luck or have they grasped and embraced the notion that think it and it will happen? Possibly, but have they just dug deep and released their inner genie?

The inner genie started with the folk tale of Aladdin. Aladdin a young lad who was the son of a poor tailor who dies and leaves Aladdin and his mother povery stricken. In searching to find his way, he is recruited by a sorcerer who claims to be the long lost brother of his father. The sorcerer has a job for the young lad to retrieve an old oil lamp trapped in a cave. Trusting, Aladdin sets off on the journey.

As new or even bloggers who have been blogging for a year or so, we have embarked upon a journey: to provide relevant, fresh and valuable content to our targeted audience (or in the case of a new blogger – anyone that is willing to read while they build an online community). The journey starts off rather blissful as the stakes are not very high but the emotional rush is. Writing seems to come easy and plentiful. The higher the traffic, the more tweets and shares, the more we become inspired to write. Then. It. Happens. The proverbial wall, writers’ block, the frozen brain, the feeling that we are making every blogging mistake which leads to the inability to even put down one sentence that makes any sense.

Referring back to the story of Aladdin, he finds the oil lamp but is double crossed by the sorcerer. Trapped in the cave with the lamp and a ring that he retained from the sorcerer, he rubs the ring accidentally and a genie appears that takes him home to his mother. While telling this tale to his mother she insists that he sell the lamp and starts to clean it by rubbing the dirt off of it. Magically, a large blue genie appears that grants the wishes to whomever releases it.

Blogging by no means is an easy task. Writing consistently and writing articles that will resonate with your audience each day is no doubt a hurdle that we have to overcome. It is not impossible as we see numerous blogs that received over 45,000 visits each day. For new bloggers, that number is “easy” and “no problem” until 6 months or a year into it and the realization that this will take a while sets in. This is not to discourage but to encourage.

Every blogger hits the point of not knowing what to write, staring at the blank screen and being easily distracted. It happens. You are not alone and certainly not unique. How you deal with it is what makes you unique. Finding your inner genie and releasing it is the true test of being a successful blogger.

How to Release Your Inner Genie

1. Establish Goals for the Blog. Your goal can be to make X dollars from advertisements on the blog, to have X readers/traffic or to have X number of sales from your product/service. Setting goals for the blog is necessary to be able to keep you focused and writing.

2. Read. Reading industry, interest, educational publications/blogs help to spark a thought and lead to new posts. The idea that 500 others have already written about it is an excuse. If it is something that you want your readers to know or they will enjoy, write it.

3. Observe.Observing what is going on around you is powerful. Each and every person that you see each day has a story. While we do not know their story, we can create one. What makes them go to the same store each day and get their coffee the same way? Habit, familiarity, the welcoming voice they receive from the store employees? Create a story from what you observe.

4. Relaxation Techniques. What makes you relax? What makes you forget about being so angry or sad? Diverting your thinking and finding a place of relaxation generates new thoughts. Your focus is now elsewhere and that feeling of having no words or thoughts about what to write suddenly is overcome with many new ideas.

5. Music. Have a song that no matter what gets you pumped? Are you the hidden shower or car singer? I am the car singer (windows up of course). Find that song and jam. This not only is inspiring it also releases the endorphins that give that feeling of power and control.

In the end, Aladdin does utilize the genie to give him a life of love and riches until the sorcerer returns and he loses the lamp once again. Ultimately he is able to regain control and the sorcerer is gone forever. In blogging we will meet the obstacles and hurdles of not knowing what to write, not having the time to write or some other barrier. Knowing that you can gain control and release your inner genie once again will prevent you from throwing in the towel and abandoning your blog.

Have you found and released your inner genie? Do you even think that it exists?

Blogging has come up as a new phenomenon in the modern world. From teenagers, to adults, and even to senior citizens, blogging could be real fun to participate in. In reality, many persons even state that blogging can service as a tension reliever where you would be competent to express everything that you want without any bondages and also if wanted you could do this maintaining your identity undisclosed. It essentially helps as an release of tension. And, the better role about blogging is that blogging bestows fame.

If you have a knack for penning or writing, you might be able to become really famed online, specially if you have a primary or entertaining issue to discourse. Many A bloggers discuss controversial matters which make them very famous and receive blended reactions from the readers. Whatsoever blogs you compose and post, the key element here is that you should write on subjects that can arouse the involvement of your readers. When you receive someone’s attention, they will start to say to their acquaintances about what they get from your website and campaign your blog and its matter for them to visit and read.

You can become really famed when you compose considerable blogs. In reality, if you receive a consistent number of loyal readers, you could also make decent income with your Blog. In reality Blogging has arrived as one of the most preferable ways to make money on the Internet at present and it is decidedly considered as one of the best ways to make money on the Internet. You could do this using affiliate plans and you can even sell some of your own merchandise to your subscribers. Some blog owners just ask for donations from their readers – and the astonishing thing about it is that the readers do give money. But, how will you be capable to grow famed as a blogger – what you need to do?

Plainly, you have to write healthy blogs. You have to remember that writing blogs is kind of like an artwork. You would have to capture the brains of your visitors and hold them interested enough that they would desire to read more of your compositions. If you could do this, then you would be able to build up loyal subscribers. The technique for this is that you should be conditioned to render attractive titles for your blog posts. By practicing so, any person who visits your site would be able to read the title and would instantly get interested in reading the full blog.

One more significant part of your blog is the first line and the introductory stanza or paragraph. The first sentence and first paragraph should be competent to directly seize the brains of your subscribers. By having a solid starting, you would be able to attract your readers to carry on reading and finish going through the article. You need to keep in mind that the beginning of your blog posts should be capable to convey that it is worth reading the full post. This will steadily grow your subscriber base and build-up your popularity – it is justly mentioned in the blogosphere that “Content is King”.

Besides the body of the article shall be able to render what the introduction has described. This means that you should unquestionably work hard on this one as this would have the important matter. The matters you put here are the ones that will actually attract the subscribers concerned in the starting place and will hence play a crucial role in making casual visitants into faithful subscribers.

No matter what you pen about. Be it your unique experiences, or what other people experienced, you would have to keep in mind that you would have to demonstrate it in a way that would lure your readers. Also keep in mind these points and you can be confident that you would become one of the few online sensations where blogging would bring you recognition in the Internet world.

Each morning I get two emails around eight in the morning. Many times they come right after another and I really look forward to reading them. They are the two sites that made me want to start HotBlogTips.com. The blogging tip niche is very competitive and one could even say it’s saturated. Too bad it’s not saturated with great content like the following two sites offer, that would actually be a good thing. Here are my favorite blog tips sites:

Daily Blog Tips If you search Google for the key phrase ‘blog tips‘ you will find Daily Blog Tips at the top of the list. That’s not just because Daniel Scocco is great at SEO or hired the right firm, it’s because he deserves to be at the top. Daily Blog Tips is exactly what he represents – Daily Blog Tips. Every day Daily Blog Tips offers top shelf, high quality content that will help your blogging endeavor.

Blogging Tips Blogging Tips is written by a group of very talented bloggers working together to provide valuable blogging tips and advice to readers and subscribers. Blogging Tips is more in line with my ultimate goal for HotBlogTips as far as multiple authors. I would love to have a group of bloggers sharing their experience with others right here on this site.

I recommend subscribing to and reading both blogs. When I think about it I guess one of the most appealing things about the two subscriptions, to me anyway, is they are a very quick and easy way of becoming a better blogger. It doesn’t take a lot of energy or time to digest the content and learn from it.

Both blogs are what HotBlogTips strives to become. If I am competing with Daily Blog Tips and Blogging Tips, and I am in a way, then I guess I’m lucky enough to admire the hell out of my competition. Ain’t the net great?

I know what you’re thinking… Yes, I like ProBlogger too

Blogging is fun and popular and more people are creating their own blogs just for fun. Normally we discuss blogs for making money but not everyone wants to blog for money. Many bloggers are blogging for stress relief, personal satisfaction, to help organize their own thoughts or just to share their opinions and expertise. Many personal blogs start out personal and grow into a source of income anyway. Lately, many personal bloggers are asked for advice or requested for interviews by the media. Both business and personal blogging are gaining more and more respect each day. Many organizations will consider a blogger an expert in their field just from blogging about it once they have established credibility.

Personal blogs also give you the opportunity to share a little about yourself and your outside life to your business blog and site visitors. Sharing too much personal information on a business blog can sometimes seem unprofessional, depending on the blog environment you have created. Linking to a personal blog can be the perfect fit.

Another benefit that personal blogs offer is an alternative outlet when you need to vent. Many of my personal blog posts are from things that get me steamed and I can’t seem to do anything about it. Posting about it can be a huge stress reliever, especially when a few others jump in with comments and understanding.

Let blogging become your problem solver. Have an issue or situation where you simply can’t find a solution. Someone else has certainly gone through the same thing and can very often offer valuable advice saving both time and frustration.

Expand your influence beyond your niche with a personal blog. If your business blog is about building windmills you will gain respect and influence in that field as you prove yourself to the industry. A personal blog allows you to blog about other areas of interest and expand your spear of influence.

New friends are in the wait hiding in the background ready for your personal views and opinions. Many friends will have common interests while others will stimulate you with opposing point of views. The next thing you know you are all subscribing to each other’s feeds waiting for that next post so you can jump in and socialize a bit. Not everything has to be about business and we can have friends all over the world if we allow it.

Personal Blogs are fun and very rewarding. If you decide to explore your personal blogging side be careful not to take up business time. Another point I should bring up is if your personal views are extreme or offensive you might want to keep it completely separate from your business blogs. That’s a personal call that should be pretty simple to make.

Do you have a personal blog? Mine is brianDhawkins.com. Feel free to link to your personal blog in your comment. This is a link-friendly site.

If you are new to blogging you may wonder how those blog commenters and forum posters get their pictures next to their names. That’s called an avatar and it’s an important part of branding for bloggers.

Avatar sizes vary from site to site and many forums require you to provide your own on registration or allow you to use one of their graphics. Blogs can setup default images for those commenters that haven’t set one up. I recommend every blogger have their own avatar, preferably of their face, for branding purposes.

Creating your avatar is very simple. Create a free Avatar from your photo with Shrink Pictures (Thanks Sheryl). If you want to do it yourself and need a nice graphics program I recommend GIMP. GIMP is a fantastic image program and it’s free.

Setting up your avatar is simple matter too. I would start out with Gravatar. Gravatar is a very popular universal avatar hosting site that many blogs recognize including HotBlogTips.com. Do you have an Avatar?

Without listing all of the reasons to choose WordPress, which there are many, I’d like to acknowledge another popular choice among bloggers and that is Blogger. Blogger, owned by Google, is a popular and easy to use blog building platform that anyone can use to create an online blog. Like WordPress.com, members of Blogger can create a blog without their own domain. And that is the issue that brings me to this post.

Most Bloggers would agree that we need our own domain in order to blog with any real success and I’m right there with that same opinion. I, like most in the circle of bloggers I mix with, prefer WordPress over Blogger. With that said, there are always exceptions and over the last two days I’ve seen several of those exceptions that I want to share.

Yesterday I was watching our local news and one of the news anchors was talking about a political issue and had a well known blogger on as an expert. It has become very common to see bloggers being interviewed as authorities on their blog’s subjects but what caught my attention was his BlogSpot (Blogger) URL. Forgive me, I can not recall the blogger or his site.

Later in the day I was listening to NPR (National Public Radio) and, again, another blogger joined the conversation with a BlogSpot URL. Wow, two bloggers in one day making it in the news as authorities in their fields simply because they had blogs. Both with Blogger blogs? Hmm, wonder if I’ve been too quick to judge.

Then to top things off, this morning I get my ‘Week In Review‘ feed subscription from GarryConn.com and one of his posts, JohnChow.com Regains Google Ranking, talks about how John Chow is back in Google’s good graces and he is now back in the search results for the key word term “make money online”. Now that is a great term and I ran the search to see where John was in there and guess who was number one? Not John Chow but, yes, a blog on BlogSpot, Grizzly’s How to Make Money Online for Beginners http://makemoneyforbeginners.blogspot.com/. It gets better, number two for the Google search term “make money online” is http://moneymakerinfo.blogspot.com/.

I can think of dozens of reasons why you should not build a blog on BlogSpot, or any other blog site for that matter, but that is just my opinion (which I will always continue to share). Obviously there are very successful bloggers still using free blog hosting sites so don’t let the whole ‘domain‘ issue stop you. Just get out there and Blog!

The most used words to describe a blog are ‘weblog‘ and ‘online journal‘. Blogs can seem a little intimidating to those new to the internet but they are no more than interactive websites. The term ‘online journal‘ is a little outdated since there are many more uses for blogs now. Blogs are no longer reserved for those that want an online diary or journal, if it ever was. Today blogs are limited only by our imaginations. We have personal blogs, business blogs, photo blogs, video blogs, niche blogs, how-to blogs and the list grows on and on. Some blogs exist to compliment or support a main site such as the one used for YourAdTracker.com. Some blogs are there to share news and commentary about a specific topic (niche blogs) and others are there to generate income often called ‘AdSence blogs‘ and ‘niche blogs‘.

What sets blogs apart from traditional websites?
Blogs combine the traditional website with the popular style and functionality of forums usually setup in reverse-chronological order (newest posts first). Generally a blog will have one or more admins (administrators) who administer the blog and publish the blog’s posts (articles). Site visitors can add their own comments to those posts provided the comments feature is not turned off (disabled). Some blogs are similar to membership sites by requiring commenters to register in order to participate, not recommended for beginning blogs.

Why a blog over a regular website?
There are many reasons to consider a blog over a regular website:

Several popular formats/platforms to choose from

Hundreds of themes available, many of which are free

More helpful plugins than you could ever use

Search engines seem to prefer blog content

The RSS feeds are similar to a built-in list building feature

Interaction with site visitors via comments help the site grow strong and fast

Blogs are very simple to create and maintain without a huge learning curve

Themes can be easily changed and can instantly make a site look very professional

Blog Etiquette
Blogging etiquette seems like common sense but only if you have the right idea or frame of mind when it comes to blogging. Blogging is much more than an interactive website, it’s social networking at it’s best. Blogging is by far the fastest way to find new online friends that share the same interests. Blogging is a very rewarding and enjoyable activity but only when following some simple and practical rules or, Blog Etiquette if you will. Like making friends on the playground, blogging etiquette must be learned and put into practice. Here are some links from a few of my blogging friends to help you get started:
