I’m pretty excited to post our first article of 2012. HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! We’re starting the year with a brand new look. I spent the better part of yesterday setting up this new theme by wplook($) and all of the work involved with this type of project. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with the look. If it performs as expected, I think we’ll be set for a while. Let me know what you think.

One question I consistently get asked is, “How are you getting so many people to comment on your blog?”. There are plenty of steps we, as bloggers, take every day to encourage our readers and subscribers to comment. We take the time to reply to blog comments, we add a call to action by actually asking for comments on every post and make it easy for people to post comments by eliminating silly hoops to jump; or at least we should. Linking out to other blogs is a great way of building business relationships, share relevant information and support your content. Today’s Quick Blogging Tip Thursday topic will be getting noticed for linking out to other blogs.
Before we get into the best ways of getting recognized for your outgoing links, I’ll spend a few seconds on whether it’s even a good idea or not. There will always be a great debate on linking out to other websites with varying degrees of opinion on either side. Many bloggers refuse to link out, afraid they will leak “link juice“, send traffic running to the competition or that it will make them look amateurish. I reject the idea that being stingy with links is “good for business“.
