Update on Hot Blog Tips Future

The last couple of weeks have been busy for me due to several different reasons. One is that my season is beginning for my fence products site, and after talking to an internet marketer that I trust and value his opinion, I was convinced that the site needed to be re-worked, massaged if you will. So I have been researching different options I have to help that site since it is my main source of income.

Social Media:

I have changed the way I look at Social Media, and how I am using those sites. I wrote about how I unfollowed everyone on Twitter, and will also be getting rid of a few accounts, including the one that came with this site when I took it over (@hotblogtips) and will mainly use my personal account for my tweeting and interaction on Twitter. If you are following @hotblogtips, you may want to change over to @kbloemendaal to keep up with my updates and to interact with me. I always answer replies and mentions whether I am following you or not. Chances are, if we interact on Twitter, I will follow you (as long as you don’t send me an automated DM to promote yourself or some affiliate).

I have backed off using many other Social Media sites, and will be mainly on Twitter and Facebook. I am doing this to streamline my time that I use with Social Media so I can concentrate on writing content, re-working my products site, read more blogs in my feed, do more research, and work on a couple of new projects I am partnering up on.

New Software:

I recently upgraded to Windows 7, and added some graphics software that I am wanting to learn to use. I am fine with Windows 7 because I used the RC build that they released all summer, so I had time to learn it before upgrading.

The graphics suite will be a large learning curve for me, but I think it is necessary for my future online. I will be spending 1-2hrs a day concentrating on these applications so I can use them for my sites.

Do-Follow vs. No-Follow:

Many of you entered into the debate about my removal of do-follow on this site, and it has been a great debate. I believe most of you understood my position, and I am looking forward to the community here growing and interacting together.

Future Plans:

Right now I have a few goals for this site, but the main one is that I have plans to write and ebook about keyword research that I plan to offer free of charge. I have spent a lot of time learning to research keywords for different sites I have owned over the last couple of years, and have built a system that I think works well for me. I might even make it a video/slide show instead of an ebook, still thinking about it. If anyone has any comments or suggestions about that, it would be great!

  1. It sounds like a lot of us are making sweeping changes lately. I fully understand the time issues and streamlining everything. Things seem to get crazy and out of control very quickly.

I would suggest you keep @hotblogtips and just not use it (other than once in a while to keep it active). Otherwise someone else will get it and it has value since it’s your domain name.

Keyword research is very interesting to me. I look forward to the ebook and/or video.

  3. Keith, I understand exactly what you mean about being pressed for time. I am going to have to share my time between my blogs and my teen jobs site, as summer is right around the corner.
Last month, I unfollowed a lot of people, basically everyone that I did not know or interact with on Twitter or their blog. I did lose some followers but not as much as I thought. It is so much better having a healthy Twitter account, much more enjoyable.

A video would be great for the keyword research content. That is what I try to create it seems that a lot of people like video when learning new techniques.

Just my two cents. Thanks for the info.

  5. I think eBook is still the best compared to a video when you are going to talk about keyword research.
