WordPress Wednesday: How Often do You Post?

You’ve just finished setting up your blog (or maybe you’ve been rolling for a few weeks, now), and you’re ready to start pushing out content. But, uh oh… How often do you post?

It’s almost impossible, as described by the below video, for me to tell you how often YOU need to post. You do, however, need to find a balance.

blah

When writing content, you shouldn’t post invaluable content just so you can say you post everyday, nor should you write extremely long posts over long spans of time.

You need, as described in the video, a balance between the two. Before you set a schedule as to how often you’ll post, think to yourself – “Will I be willing to write an article X often and put all the required effort into it?”

If you answer no, then rethink your strategy because otherwise, you’ll be on a rode to failure.

Although I can write a post each day, I've been thinking about cutting back to 3 a week on Mon, Wed and Fri.

This is because I want to have time to go deeper into the subjects I want to write about.

Even an extra day will give you a wealth of knowledge on your post subject.

We'll see how it goes – it all really depends on your own blog, productivity and your community.

  2. I think one should write posts that are REGULAR, not necessarily daily, but a fixed schedule (like you gave in the examples or 3 times a week).

When you think about it, it would make blogging easier too.

P.S. Your blog is appearing messed up on my side. Is it only with me, or is there a bug/error on your end? Please clarify.

It's very important to have some new stuff on the blog if you are thinking of blogging. The post should be well designed & well managed. The content should be unique each time with some new things to share. Not daily, but the posts should be posted on a regular basis, say 1 post per 2/3days. This gives a chance to collect more data as well as more time to your readers to read each of your post.

    I get what your saying.

Like I said in the video, as well as text, you need to find a balance. It's whatever works for you, your readers, and your brain. If you can put out an article everyday, put a lot of effort and time into it (45 minutes+), then market it, you'll be sure to get your maximum traffic.

  5. Joe Boyle says:

Whatever works for you is what you should do. If you can write every day, do it. If you can't, don't try.

    The “bug” was fixed.

I hope the best of luck to you, Murray. Changing your schedule is as effective on if your readers desire to change their schedule for you. It's as simple as that.

    Thanks for the comment :D

  7. I don't schedule anything other than other articles from guests. I only write when I feel creative, otherwise you are just forcing it, and that would be worse to me than not having enough content. Don't force crappy content to meet a schedule…

  8. I suggest to post 1 article every 3-4 days. It gives you sufficient time to write a good post as well as you can manage your posts very well. I like the video you have shared. Especially useful for the beginners.

  9. Dennis Edell says:

Up to now I've been fairly consistent. Every 2-4 days with promotion in-between.

Once the multi-blog blog network is complete, I'll really have to think on it some.

  10. Phil says:

I think it depends, if you have multiple writers which are strong in niche in which they want to post, you can give daily fresh and valuable contents to your reader to read something valuable

  11. Extreme John says:

My blog posting has been sketchy at best lately, all though I did manage to fire off a two week period with daily updates. I typically like to keep a new post coming daily, I wouldn't mind having a few guest posters on the roster to enable multiple updates daily.
