Using Google Alerts Today And Several Alternatives

In this post, we’ll look at Google Alerts and how to use them today. We’ll also look at several alternatives worth a look.

Google Alerts are simply automated messages sent to your Gmail account whenever Google indexes web content or content changes that included your selected keywords or keyword phrases. This is a free tool provided by Google. You can choose to include several keywords to narrow down the search alerts or even put your keywords in “quotes” to even further narrow down the relevancy. I couldn’t find a detailed list of new and future Generic Top Level Domains that I could easily scan so I decided to create one myself. I put together as many domains as I could find into a SlideShare presentation. I believe many bloggers and marketers will find this list helpful as you plan future sites, projects and marketing campaigns. Domains are relatively inexpensive so they make a nice alternative for Pretty Links setup for affiliate links and content we’ve created. Check Out This Free WordPress Table of Contents Plugin

In this post we’ll take a deep dive into the free WordPress plugin – Table of Contents Plus. I don’t know about you but every now and then I get a little long winded when writing a blog post. Adding a Table of Contents (TOC) to longer posts can make your post easier to read (consume) and the section itself can help “breakup” our content so it’s not as overwhelming. The Table of Contents Plus WordPress plugin allows us to include a clickable post menu based on the number of headings (you determine which heading tags).
